FAQ business consulting

Have questions about working with a business operations consultant in Phoenix? You’re in the right place! Here is everything you need to know about The Coldiron Hour, our services, and how we help business owners across the Valley build operational clarity and scale with confidence. Still have quest

The Coldiron Hour (TCH) is a business operations consulting firm based in Phoenix, Arizona. I work with business owners across the Valley to streamline their operations, document their processes, implement the right systems, and build the kind of operational clarity that lets them grow without the chaos. My background includes over a decade of hands-on experience across aerospace, real estate, pool service, and photography, including time as an Operations Manager for a real estate brokerage and Technical Project Manager 3 at Blue Origin. I started TCH because I kept watching talented business owners get held back by operational gaps they didn’t even know they had. I love what I do, and I love seeing what happens for business owners when we close those gaps together. If you are ready to find yours, let's talk.

TCH specializes in three core areas: streamlining business operations, process and procedure management, and systems implementation. I work as a Fractional COO for business owners who need strategic operational leadership without the cost of a full-time executive. Depending on where you are in your business, I offer packages starting at the Startup Package at $750 per month all the way up to the Core Package at $4,000 per month, which includes on-site assessments, full systems buildout, SOP development, software implementation, team onboarding, and leadership coaching for owners and managers. Not sure where to start? Take the free Operations Health Check Scorecard on this site and find your biggest gap in under three minutes.

I work primarily with small-to-medium size business owners across the greater Phoenix, Arizona area, though I support clients remotely as well. My current and past clients span industries including real estate, pool service, and photography. The problems I solve (unclear roles, undocumented processes, disconnected systems, inconsistent communication, and no real metrics) show up in every industry. If you have a team, clients, and goals to grow, I can help. The operational challenges are more similar across industries than most business owners expect.

A Fractional Chief Operating Officer (COO) is an experienced operations executive who partners with your business on a part-time or contract basis. You get the strategic leadership, operational expertise, and execution of a full-time Chief Operating Officer without the full-time salary. For business owners in Phoenix and across the Valley who are overwhelmed by the day-to-day, struggling to scale, or watching things fall through the cracks, a Fractional COO can be the missing piece. That is exactly the role I step into for my clients. I don’t just advise. I get in the work, build the systems, document the processes, and train your team so you can actually step back.

Business coaches typically focus on mindset, goal-setting, and accountability. I focus on operations - the actual systems, processes, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and structures that make your business run day to day. The difference is implementation. I don’t give you a framework and send you on your way. I get in the work with you. I build the SOPs, implement the tools, redesign the workflows, and train your team. Think of it less like coaching and more like having an operations partner in your corner who stays until the work is actually done and your team is confident running it.

Yes! And this is one of my favorite parts of the work. Before recommending anything new, I always sit down with you and your team to understand your current tools and how they are actually being used, your current workflows, your bottlenecks, and what’s currently working for the team. Sometimes the right software is already in place and just needs to be configured correctly. When new tools are needed, I help you select the right ones, implement them, and train your team so adoption actually sticks. Client Relationship Management (CRM) systems, phone systems, project management tools, communication platforms, etc. If it runs your operations, it’s in scope.

No problem at all. I tailor every engagement around what your business actually needs. Some of my clients work with me primarily through weekly video calls and remote access. As long as I can get eyes on your operations (your team, your tools, your processes), I can get to work. The Core Package does include an on-site operational assessment for clients who want that level of hands-on presence, but it’s not required at every tier.

It depends on where you are starting from and how deep the gaps go. Some clients see meaningful, measurable change within the first 30 to 60 days. Full operational clarity (i.e. documented processes, implemented systems, a trained and confident team) typically takes anywhere from a few months to a year. The best way to get a realistic picture of your specific situation is to start with the free Operations Health Check Scorecard on this site, then book a free intro call. Once I understand your gaps, I can give you a much clearer timeline.

Yes. I offer a free 30-minute intro call where we dig into your biggest business challenges, identify your operational bottlenecks, and outline where to focus first. No pressure, no pitch, and no credit card required. Just an honest conversation about where you are and where you want to go.

Book yours at thecoldironhour.com or reach out directly at jcoldiron@thecoldironhour.com.

I work with business owners across the Phoenix metro area and remotely, so wherever you are based, do not hesitate to reach out.

No long-term contracts required. I work on a month-to-month basis because I believe the results should speak for themselves. My goal is to deliver enough value that continuing to work together is an easy decision, not an obligation. I stay with you until the work is complete, your systems are adopted, and your team is confident. That is the commitment I make to every client.

I am based in Phoenix, Arizona and work with businesses across the greater Valley area including Scottsdale, Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, Tempe, Phoenix, Glendale, Peoria, Goodyear, and Buckeye. I also work with clients remotely, so geography is not always a barrier. If you are outside the Phoenix metro and think we would be a good fit, reach out and let's figure it out. Operations problems do not care what zip code you are in.

If your business has a team, clients, and goals to grow, but the day-to-day feels chaotic, inconsistent, or completely dependent on you making every decision, your’e ready. Common signs include: no documented processes, a team that constantly asks you the same questions, systems that do not talk to each other, clients who get different experiences depending on who helps them, and decisions made on gut feeling instead of real data. Sound familiar? Start with the free Operations Health Check Scorecard on this site. It covers all five pillars of operational clarity — People, Process, Systems, Communication, and Metrics, and takes only three minutes. Your lowest score is your starting point.
